Congratulations to the winners of Marlboro Elementary School’s second annual Black History Month Literary Contest! For the competition, which ran throughout the month of February, students in Grades 2-5 submitted a poster design or wrote an essay based on the theme “African Americans and the Arts.”
Among Grade 2 students, Leo Fernandez and Giana Thomas tied for first place, Giuliana Deangelo won second place, and Kolade Baker-Fann received third place honors.
In Grade 3, Lucy Lennon won first place, Emma Esposito earned second place, and Miyah Brown took third.
For Grade 4, Mayowa Baker-Fann earned first place, Annabelle Scaturro took second, and AvaMarie Pellegrino won third.
Finally, in Grade 5, Paul Esposito was the first place winner, Yoonis Saleh won second place, and Gino Rivieccio took third.
All winners were presented with a certificate and other prizes. Thank you to all of the Dukes who participated in the contest. We hope that you learned a lot about Black history and culture!
