Mamma Mia

The Marlboro High School (MHS) Drama Club is gearing up to perform Mamma Mia! in the MHS auditorium, located at 50 Cross Road in Marlboro, on Thursday, March 16, and Friday, March 17, at 7 PM; and on Saturday, March 18, at 2 PM.

The talented cast and hardworking crew have been busy preparing for the musical, which was written by British playwright Catherine Johnson, based on songs recorded by Swedish group ABBA and composed by Benny Andersson and Björn Ulvaeus.

Set on a small Greek island, Sophie, played by Marlboro’s Emma Bogaczyk, dreams of a perfect wedding, one which includes her father giving her away. The only problem is that Sophie doesn’t know who he is. Her mother refuses to talk about the past, so Sophie decides to take matters into her own hands. Sneaking a peek in her mother’s old diaries, she discovers three possible fathers and secretly invites all three to the wedding, convinced that she’ll know her father when she sees him. When all three turn up, it is not as clear as she thought!

The musical features popular hits such as "Super Trouper,” "Lay All Your Love on Me," "Dancing Queen,” and, of course, "Mamma Mia." It is being directed by Lori Pilong. Tickets are $15 for adults and $13 for students and senior citizens. They can be purchased at the door or in advance at marlboroschools.seatyourself.biz
