On February 11, Marlboro Middle School students participated in a special Interdisciplinary Day with a unified focus on Black History Month.

The day kicked off with students working in their Class Connections activity groups to create a giant hallway timeline showcasing key moments in Black history. Through research and creativity, the Dukes designed posters and printouts to bring these important events to life.

At lunchtime, students enjoyed a sweet treat—ice cream!—in honor of James Hemmings, who helped introduce ice cream to America. Born into slavery, Hemmings went on to become the head chef for President Thomas Jefferson, leaving a lasting impact on American cuisine.

This special day of learning and collaboration highlighted the meaningful contributions of Black Americans and celebrated the tremendous influence these individuals have had on our world.
