Students hand cards to veterans

Marlboro Elementary School students paid tribute to our local heroes by inviting former military service members from the community to join in Veterans Day activities on November 8. The honored guests began their day with a warm welcome in the library, where they enjoyed a delicious breakfast and had the chance to connect and share stories about their time in the military.

Following breakfast, the school held a special assembly to honor these brave men and women. Students introduced the veterans with heartfelt words and performed patriotic songs to show appreciation for their service. At the close of the assembly, students greeted each veteran with handshakes, fist bumps, and handmade cards they had created in their classrooms—a touching gesture of gratitude that highlighted the school’s deep respect for their service.

Adding to the spirit of the day, one or two students from each grade were awarded the “Dedicated Duke” honor by PBIS, recognizing their outstanding citizenship. It was a memorable celebration of patriotism and community that students—and veterans—will cherish for years to come!
