YEARLY REQUIREMENTS FOR MEMBERSHIP:

1. Attend All monthly meetings. If you need to miss a meeting, please follow the absence procedure in the MHS NHS Guidelines Packet/ By-Laws

2. Independent Service Projects: Must complete all activities outlined in your ISP Description packet **ALL WORK MUST BE COMPLETED BETWEEN SEPTEMBER & May 1 of the current school year

3. Community Service: 20 hours of Community Service IN ADDITION to/SEPERATE from your ISP work must be completed. You need to have hours in THREE different types of activities and your Community Service should be above and beyond what you normally do ( i.e. If you already teach CCD, you cannot use that for hours). MUST complete the Community Service Form, and have an adult signature and contact number for each activity **ALL COMMUNITY SERVICE HOURS MUST BE COMPLETED BETWEEN SEPTEMBER & MAY1st of the current school year ONLY

4. Attend the annual Induction Ceremony Rehearsal and Ceremony (Dates provided at the beginning of the school year)

5. Scholarship: Each member must maintain a minimum cumulative GPA of 90% each quarter, as determined using weighted grades (Averages are NOT rounded up – ex. 89.75 is NOT rounded to 90%)

6. All eligible members must be enrolled in a minimum of 6 periods of classes per academic school year, and continue to meet this requirement for the duration of their membership.

7. Each member is required to participate in a minimum of ONE Marlboro High School Club/Activity/Sport per school year.

8. Each member is expected to maintain a level of moral and ethical standards commensurate with the level expected of honorable people.

9. Each member is expected to participate in and support all group National Honor Society events and participate in at least one Group Service Project planned by the National Honor Society Advisor per year.

*** NOTE TO INTERESTED STUDENTS:

  • Only MHS SOPHOMORES & JUNIORS who meet the requirements are eligible to apply. The application process begins at the end of Quarter 2 of each of these years

  • Those who are striving to meet the 90.00 weighted, cumulative, in progress GPA required to be invited to apply for the MHS NHS should regularly check with their school counselor to measure your progress.
